Renovating old Hunteriver stand.

flairdale characteristics:
  • Wally Jenkin is sowing flairdale in his depleted hunteriver lucerne stand as part of his renovation program.
  • He likes the similarity of flairdale with hunteriver but he needed a highly aphid resistant variety.
  • Wally used glyphosate after grazing with the addition of a hormone spray to control storkbill. He direct drilled flairdale at 10 kilogram of seed per hectare and achieved 80 plants per square metre, with good insect management
  • ideal dryland lucerne
  • high density and vigour.
  • significant better establishment than hunterfield and springfield.
  • high resistance to blue green and spotted aphids.
  • ideal replacement for hunter river alfalfa.
